“The Little Match Girl Passion”, by David Lang.  A musical composition based on the Hans Christian Andersen story, "The Little Match Girl". It is influenced by Johann Sebastian Bach’s St Matthew Passion and has won a Pulitzer Prize. The Fauré Requiem will also be performed, with Shawn Grenke, organist and guest soloists. This   performance   of   The   Little   Match   Girl   Passion    honours the   dedicated   life   and   work   of   the   late   Toronto   councillor, Pam   McConnell ,   whose   tireless   efforts   benefitted   the   lives   of the   under-privileged   in   this   city.   Poverty   demands   our   uneuiveqocal   concern.   Through   this   sensitive choral   composition,   we   hope   to   pursue   a   keen   awareness   of   those   less   privileged,   through   the   written text based on the Hans Christian Andersen story.
