Ontario Honours Excellence in the Arts
McGuinty Government Celebrates Contribution Of Artists To Ontario’s Economy

 NEWS

Ontario is celebrating its most outstanding artists and art organizations with the release of the 2010 finalists for the Premier’s Award for Excellence in the Arts.

The winning artist will receive $35,000 and will select a new or emerging artist to receive a prize of $15,000. The winning arts organization will be awarded $50,000. The remaining finalists will each receive $2,000.

Finalists in the artist category are:
Lydia Adams, Artistic Director of the Elmer Iseler Singers (Toronto)
Keith Campbell, ceramic artist (North Bay)
Barry Dempster, poet (Holland Landing)
Ken Gass, theatre writer and director (Toronto)
John Hartman, visual artist (Penetanguishene)
Ross Manson, Artistic Director of Volcano (Toronto)

Finalists in the arts organization category are:
Association des professionnels de la chanson et de la musique (Ottawa)
Definitely Superior Art Gallery (Thunder Bay)
Guelph Jazz Festival
Images Festival (Toronto)
Public Energy (Peterborough)
Tarragon Theatre (Toronto)

Winners will be announced June 10 in Toronto at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex.
