About The Sioux Hudson Entertainment Series
The Sioux Hudson Entertainment Series brings big city performing arts to the remote north at small town prices. Each year, the Series presents at least six pieces of professional live entertainment in Sioux Lookout. The volunteer committee strives to provide a balance of drama, music (classical and contemporary) and dance. In 2016, the committee celebrated 35 years of great entertainment and thousands of hours of volunteerism.
Highlights of years past include Bruce Cockburn, Jim Cuddy, The Vinyl Café with Stuart McLean, The Rankin Family, Danny Grossman Dance Company, Prairie Oyster, Jeff Healey, the annual visits from the Manitoba Theatre Centre and the biennial performances by the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra. In fact, 2018 marked the 40th anniversary of the first visit of the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra to Sioux Lookout in 1978.
The Sioux Hudson Entertainment Series relies on ticket sales, sponsorships from local businesses and individuals, and an annual grant from the Ontario Arts Council to cover the cost of putting on the six concerts.
