The Elmer Iseler Singers and Artistic Director Lydia Adams are excited to announce a Cross-Canada Virtual Choral Tour of Canada, connecting with choirs country-wide in a Mentorship/Performance opportunity to produce a virtual performance of the inspiring work by Leon Dubinsky, We Rise Again.
The Elmer Iseler Singers’ Cross-Canada Virtual Choral Tour connects the EIS singers with 5 outstanding national community choirs in mentoring sessions, and will culminate in a massed choral presentation premiere at 4:00 p.m. EDT, Sunday, June 20th, 2021 on the Elmer Iseler Singers YouTube channel. The participants are the:
- Whitehorse Community Choir, Barbara Chamberlin, conductor;
- Thunder Bay Symphony Chorus, Maria Fuller, conductor;
- Wiarton Concert Choir, Marla Spencer, conductor;
- Agincourt Madrigal Singers, James Pinhorn, conductor;
- Cape Breton Chorale, Ryan Billington, conductor.
All the conductors are featured in interviews on the EIS YouTube channel, with the stories of challenges and triumphs of the past 15 months, and how their choirs are building for re-opening after more than a year of uncertainty and stress. These interviews are uplifting and inspiring, showing the courage, strength, resilience and determination of each conductor and choir to make sure that choral music is again heard and in the heart of their communities.
Lydia Adams is very excited about the EIS Cross-Canada Virtual Choral Tour, and believes that the message in Leon Dubinsky’s words: “We rise again in the faces of our children” is “a powerful message both for society today and for our choral community as it rises to the challenge of building back stronger to create a bright future of choral singing.” The message is one of hope and optimism for the world as we re-create our communities for the future.
