VIVA, directed by Carol Woodward Ratzlaff, enters its 25th season with a total of seven choirs. The Amadeus Choir, Kathleen Allan, Artistic Director, just celebrated their 50th season.
Last year’s performance was refered to as our “best Messiah ever!” We can’t wait to bring it to you again!

VIVA Chamber Singers
The VIVA Chamber Singers (an SATB chamber choir) is comprised of experienced and highly-skilled singers who are young professionals, post-secondary students, and senior high school students.
VIVA was founded in 2000 by Carol Woodward Ratzlaff in response to widespread cuts to public school arts programs. As a lifelong vocal music educator, she believes that every person should have access to a singing experience. With this in mind, VIVA is committed to putting chorister voice at the forefront of their organization through the core values of choral performance artistry, choral creation and vocal music education, inclusive choral practices, choral leadership and mentoring, and community connections.
In the 2024/25 season, VIVA presents its twenty-fifth season with a total of seven choirs. These choirs continue to bring people of all ages, all abilities, and all levels of musical experience together through the power of choral music. They continue to push boundaries by applying current research in vocal pedagogy (including transgender voices, changing adolescent voices, supporting aging voices, etc.), vocal music education, inclusion studies, and academia to best meet the needs of their singers.
Amadeus Choir
The Amadeus Choir of Greater Toronto is celebrating 50 years of enlivening the Toronto arts landscape through energetic performances, unexpected programming and artistic collaborations that redefine the boundaries of traditional choral music.
Led by Artistic Director Kathleen Allan, the Choir champions the best of choral music and premieres works of Canadian and international composers through a self-produced Toronto concert series, guest performances, and special events. The Amadeus Choir regularly commissions work from high-profile and emerging Canadian composers and recently established the Choral Creation Lab, a residency for composers and poets to co-create original works.
