Originally scheduled mezzo-soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers is unable to join us for the December 12th performance due to family illness. We are pleased to announce that contralto Nicole Percifield will step into the alto role, and we look forward to welcoming her to this special evening of Handel’s Messiah.
Lydia Adams conducts the Elmer Iseler Singers with special guest choirs the Amadeus Choir and the VIVA Chamber Singers. The three choirs are joined by orchestra and four outstanding award-winning soloists—here is a little more information about each artist:

Soprano, Leslie Fagan is a recipient of the Order of Ontario in recognition of her sustained artistic excellence, her commitment to educating the next generation of vocal performers, and her championing of the great Canadian songbook though the Canadian Art Song Series.
Contralto, Nicole Percifield is considered a skilled interpreter of art song, she is the recipient of UofT’s 2024 Norcop Prize in Song, was a 2024 Fellow with Toronto Summer Music and was featured on CBC’s Tapestry program.

Tenor, Colin Ainsworth, is known for his “exquisite control and emotional directness,” he has performed across North America including a performance of Handel’s Messiah with Dame Jane Glover and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.

Bass, Doug MacNaughton, was one of the Elmer Iseler Singers from Autumn 2018 to Spring 2024 when he moved to New York City! He shared a note with us that he last sang with Colin Ainsworth in the “Magic Flute” at Hamilton Place in 2008.
