announce a call for submissions for the James T. Chestnutt Scholar position for the 2023-2024 Concert Season

The James T. Chestnutt Scholarship is an annual award to an emerging choral musician to participate as a singer with conducting study and performance opportunities with the Elmer Iseler Singers for a complete season.

The EIS welcomes submissions for this unique opportunity to work with conductor Lydia Adams and the EIS, a foremost Canadian professional chamber choir based in Toronto, specializing in contemporary Canadian and international repertoire, and known for its superb musicianship, its spirit of collaboration nationally, and its educational focus.

The Scholarship is open to all emerging singers and conductors.

The Elmer Iseler Singers invite experienced singers to apply!

Based in Toronto, The Elmer Iseler Singers and Lydia Adams, Artistic Director, are excited to announce auditions for all voices for the 2023-2024 Concert Season for core and substitute work with the choir.

The Elmer Iseler Singers, established in 1979, is a foremost Canadian professional chamber choir performing a wide range of choral styles and genres, specializing in contemporary Canadian and international repertoire, and is known for its superb musicianship, its spirit of collaboration with organizations nationally, and its educational focus.

The choir is looking for choral singers with excellent musicianship and sight-reading skills, and an ability and desire to work closely within the team. The Elmer Iseler Singers is committed to the principles of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility.

Auditions will entail:

  • 2 prepared arias or songs. Please bring music for the provided pianist. One of the works should be in a language other than English.
  • sight-reading
  • ear tests and voice range check

The Elmer Iseler Singers invite Canadian Professional Singers to Apply for the 2021-2022 Concert Season: All Voices

Based in Toronto, The Elmer Iseler Singers and Artistic Director Lydia Adams are pleased to announce an Open Call for Auditions for the 2021-2022 Concert Season for substitute work and possible future core work with the choir. The choir is looking for high-level professional-quality choral singers for all positions.

The EIS also announce auditions for a soprano/alto opening in the coming season.
Both sopranos and altos will be considered for this core position.

Successful applicants may be invited to a second round of auditions via Zoom, or in person if Covid-19 protocols allow.

The core choir generally rehearses on Monday evenings and Tuesday late afternoon in preparation for our Toronto concert series, educational programs, guest performances and national touring when medical restrictions allow. Extra rehearsals will usually occur the week prior to a concert.

Audition Requirements

Applicants are invited to submit your curriculum vitae to: info@elmeriselersingers.com and to lydia@elmeriselersingers.com.

Please attach an unlisted YouTube audition video, including two accompanied contrasting works demonstrating two languages. If recent accompanied video recordings are not possible given COVID-19 health guidelines from the applicant’s regional health authority, please submit two accompanied audio recordings from the past 24 months with works in two languages.
