Dear EIS Friends:
The Elmer Iseler Singers and Artistic Director Lydia Adams are delighted to announce Mr. Matthew Boutda as the EIS James T. Chestnutt Scholar for the 2025-2026 concert season.
This unique educational initiative of the Elmer Iseler Singers, named after the choir’s dedicated and long-time Board Chair, gives an opportunity to an emerging choral conductor to work and be mentored for a full year with artistic director Lydia Adams and the EIS members, honing their skills in working on a professional level in rehearsal and concert opportunities.
Mr. Boutda was delighted to hear the news and responded:
“I am honoured to be named the 2025–2026 James T. Chestnutt Scholar with the Elmer Iseler Singers. It is an incredible privilege to work with such a professional choir under the inspiring leadership of Lydia Adams. I am deeply excited for the opportunity to learn, grow with this group, and to honour Mr. Chestnutt’s great legacy of support to the organization.”
The EIS and Artistic Director Lydia Adams are excited to work with Matthew, and look forward to a positive, invigorating and inspiring year ahead!
