Join conductor Lydia Adams as she chats with Toronto composers Brad Barnham and Carmine Lappano about their world première compositions.
Brad Barnham’s composition At That Hour will be part of the program dedicated to “The Earth and the Firmament” and Carmine Lappano’s composition Remember Me follows the Norma Beecroft tribute The Living Flame of Love. The Elmer Iseler Singers are very excited to present these two new works as part of this Spring concert dedicated to choral music written in appreciation and celebration of the Earth.
Brad Barnham, Composer
Brad Barnham is the Director of Music at St. George’s Anglican Church (St. Catharines), and will join Voices Rock Canada as Director and Arranger this September. He has worked with major festivals across Canada as a clinician and guest conductor, including MusicFest Nationals, OVF, OCHS Festival, CIS Music Festival, the Leahy Music Camp, and more. His work in Niagara has earned him St. Catharines Arts Award nominations in 2024 and 2026.
Brad won the 2024 Ruth Watson Henderson Composition Competition and received an honorable mention in the Diane Loomer Competition that same year. His work Moonset was recently published in Finland and premièred at Western University, and You’ll Always Be My Home, written for the Ontario Youth Choir, has been performed across the country and abroad, including Beijing and Warsaw.
Carmine Lappano, Composer
Carmine Lappano was born in 1977 and raised in Toronto, Ontario. Working primarily as a liturgical musician, Carmine is well respected as a Composer/Conductor/Organist, having held appointments in several churches throughout the last 20 years. Carmine
has extensive choral experience, having sung with several professional choirs, including the Elmer Iseler Singers. Carmine has had the privilege of working with prominent Canadian choral musicians such as Lydia Adams, Eleanor Daley, Jerzy Cichocki and Matthew Larkin.
A member of the Royal Canadian College of Organists, Carmine holds a professional diploma in Choral Conducting (Ch. RCCO). He has written several pieces of sacred choral music for liturgical use, and has music published with Cypress Choral Music, Hal Leonard and Pavane Publishing.
